20.13.1 Restrictions on Alarm History

• If a message contains characters that cannot be displayed, the message will not appear.

• Place the switch for operating alarm history on the same screen where the alarm parts are placed. When the switch is placed on a different screen, operations such as Call Screen do not work. This is the same when using Special Switches.

• The switch for operating alarm history works when only one alarm part is placed on the screen.
  

• Set the monitoring bits of [Bit Address] and [Word Address] within a 256 word range for the whole alarm history (Block 1 to 8).

• Data in backup memory (SRAM) is erased on:

• Offline mode's [Initialize User Memory]

• The Clear switch for Alarm History is touched

• In GP4000 series (except for GP-4100 series), when the [Back up History] setting is selected, you may not be able to register or save the maximum allowable alarm history records depending on the operation log configuration.

• If in a project file for the IPC Series, you select [Back up History], the amount of backup memory used by the Alarm History varies depending on the version of GP-Pro EX installed (prior to version 3.0, or version 3.0 and later). If you create a file in a version earlier than 3.0 but open it in GP-Pro EX version 3.0 or later and transfer it to the IPC Series, the file size may exceed the capacity of the backup memory (SRAM). This may cause errors on some functions as the backup memory (SRAM) observes the save priorities of the file.
  Therefore, before you transfer a file, check the [SRAM Information] (accessible from [Project] menu, [Information], [Project Information]).
  20.15 Space Requirements for Alarm History Data

• If any of the following is true for the alarm part, you cannot use banner to display alarm history.

• You can define this when [Alarm Parts]-[Basic]-[Message Display Method]-[Multiple line display] is selected.

• An animation is specified for the alarm part.

• The alarm part is positioned in the front layer.

• The alarm part animation is in the header or footer.

• You have selected [Call Screen] and the alarm part animation is placed the screen that is called.

Restrictions when the [Alarm Type] is [Extended]

• For information on the models which support the extended feature, see the following.
  1.5 Supported Features

• To use the [Extended] setting for GP3000 series, attach a GP3000 Function Expansion Memory (option). While the display unit is running, do not remove the GP3000 Function Expansion Memory (option).

• Polling Frequency may not keep the set time due to a load condition in the environments.
  In the actual run-time environment, check the frequency Exceeding Bit and Polling Frequency Measurement, then adjust the alarm monitoring address's holding time accordingly. See the following for measuring the frequency Exceeding Bit and Polling Frequency.
  20.12.1.2 Alarm Settings (Block 1) - Bit Monitoring

• Be sure to set the [Backup History] option when executing [Retentive Accumulation/Count].

• When [Backup History] is set, regardless of the alarm status, files for accumulated time and the number of occurrences are automatically output when running [Receive Project] or going to offline mode. It takes a maximum of 4 seconds to output files. Transfer or going to offline mode will not run while outputting files. These operations run after the output is complete.

• When reading the Alarm Monitoring Address, [Retentive Accumulation/Count] cannot be used to output files. If the file output timing is [Bit ON] or [Bit Change], after reading is complete, the device is checked to see if the output conditions are met. If the file output timing is [Cycle], the Cycle count is performed even during reading, but the file is output only after reading is complete.

• While outputting the file using the [Retentive Accumulation/Count] function, you cannot read using the Alarm Monitoring Address. If the Polling Frequency is reached during file output, a read is performed after file output is complete.

• If you are transferring a project to the display unit, and external storage contains files for accumulated time and number of occurrences, these files are automatically deleted. These files are also deleted when downloading to the display unit the backup file (*.cml) created by the [Create Backup File] option in the Transfer Tool's [Memory Loader].

• When uploading the display unit data using the Memory Loader, files for accumulated time and the number of occurrences are not included in the backup file (*.cml). If you are downloading the backup files (*.cml) to another display unit, you must also move the files for accumulated time and the number of occurrences by using an external storage device.

• When the display unit's power is turned ON (except right after transferring), reads in the files for accumulated time and the number of occurrences. If there are no files saved, the error status is stored.

GP-4100 Series Restrictions

• You can store history data up to 200,000 times.

• Alarm History Message Flow Display The display of the message portion may be delayed.
